Yoga and Art Collaboration: A Match Made in Heaven

Collaborating with Margot Wagner from Under the Bodhi Tree was an absolute delight, and our recent workshop proved that yoga and art truly are a match made in heaven! Together, we created a space where participants could explore their inner selves through the complementary practices of mindful movement and creative expression. The synergy between yoga and art provided a transformative experience that nurtured both body and soul.

Yoga and art share a strikingly similar process. Both are pathways to self-discovery, inviting us to turn inward and listen to our intuition. Yoga, often described as a science, an art, and a way of life, uses movement, breath, and meditation to bring clarity and balance. It helps cultivate presence, aligning mind and body while revealing deeper truths about ourselves.

Art follows a parallel journey. The act of creating is inherently contemplative. When we immerse ourselves in art, we step into the present moment, letting go of distractions and external noise. Real art comes from a place of authenticity—an expression of what lies deep within us. Like yoga, it’s not about perfection but connection and truth.

When combined, yoga and art amplify each other’s benefits. The calm and focus cultivated in yoga flow seamlessly into the creative process, resulting in art that feels personal and meaningful.

The workshop experience is designed to intertwine yoga and art into a seamless experience of introspection and expression.
Margot guided participants through gentle, mindful yoga sequences, using breath awareness and meditation to create a grounded, centered energy. These practices helped participants reconnect with their inner selves, preparing them to channel that focus into their art, then Tamlyn built on the peaceful energy cultivated through yoga, participants explored art-making as a form of self-expression. Guided exercises encouraged them to experiment with textures, colors, and themes that resonated with their emotions and thoughts. The emphasis was on authenticity—letting go of the need for perfection and trusting their creative instincts.

Throughout the day, moments of silence, reflection, and journaling created space for participants to process their experiences, deepening their connection to themselves and their art.

For me, this workshop wasn’t just about guiding others—it was an opportunity to reflect on my own journey. Teaching yoga and art is always a gift, but this collaboration with Margot reminded me of the transformative power of these practices when combined. The day inspired me to consider how I can continue to grow, not just as a teacher but as a person.

I was struck by the way participants embraced both practices with openness and curiosity. Watching them discover their inner strength and creativity was deeply moving, and it reinforced my belief in the importance of creating spaces where people can connect with themselves and each other.

Moving forward this workshop was a celebration of yoga, art, and the magic that happens when they come together. It reminded all of us to slow down, listen, and express ourselves authentically. I’m already looking forward to future collaborations with Margot and to bringing more of this harmonious balance into my teaching and life.

If you’re looking for an experience that combines creativity, mindfulness, and connection, these workshops are for you. Together, let’s explore the magic of yoga and art!
