Wrapping up the Year and Reflecting on my Creative Journey

As the year winds down, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible experiences, projects, and collaborations that have shaped the past twelve months. Each blog I’ve shared has captured a slice of this creative journey—celebrating art, connection, and the joy of bringing beautiful ideas to life. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights and themes that defined this year.

This year was filled with inspiring partnerships that brought fresh energy and new perspectives. A standout was my collaboration with Margot Wagner from Under the Bodhi Tree. Together, we combined yoga and art in a workshop that was truly a match made in heaven. By blending the mindfulness of yoga with the contemplative process of creating art, we created a space where participants could connect deeply with themselves and their creativity.

Another highlight was collaborating with clients to turn their personal artwork into stunning home décor pieces. From one-on-one lessons to transforming those creations into repeat patterns, it was a joy to see people’s visions come to life in the form of cushions, curtains, and more. These projects were a reminder of the beauty of personal expression and the magic of making art functional.

This year also marked an exciting expansion of my home décor offerings through Spoonflower. My Grevillea Flo range, inspired by the vibrant grevillea bushes in Canungra, became a favorite among clients. Seeing my hand-drawn designs transformed into wallpapers, table linens, and bedding was incredibly rewarding.

The flexibility of Spoonflower allowed me to connect with a wider audience, offering an easy way for people to bring my designs into their homes. From florals to festive patterns, this platform has been a game-changer for sharing my art with the world.

Workshops and Personal Growth

Teaching workshops has always been a cornerstone of my practice, and this year was no exception. Each session brought together individuals from all walks of life to explore their creativity, whether through watercolor techniques, mixed media, or designing art inspired by nature.

A personal highlight was teaching at the Bird Week residency at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat for the seventh year in a row. Guiding participants through playful and expressive projects, like crafting whimsical bird scenarios and experimenting with innovative textures, reminded me of the joy of teaching. These moments also gave me a chance to reflect on my own growth as an artist and educator.

As I look back, I’m filled with gratitude for every project, client, and moment of inspiration this year. From expanding my online presence to deepening connections through in-person workshops, it’s been a year of creative exploration and growth.

As we move into a new year, I’m excited to carry forward the lessons and energy of this one. Whether through new collaborations, fresh designs, or more opportunities to share the transformative power of art, there’s so much to look forward to.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Here’s to another year of creativity, connection, and making the world a more beautiful place—one design at a time!
